Will there be a host hotel?

Yes, we have a room block at Holiday Inn Texarkana! The rate is $92.00 kings, $102.00 doubles. This rate includes breakfast for up to 4 guests. All staff will stay for free. You can be included in our block by mentioning Southwest Cattle Clinic when booking.

What will be discussed in the parent clinic?

We will be going over everything from how to select a calf, what to wear in the show ring, and products to use with your calf. We will have guest speakers from several companies to educate parents about new products.

What meals will be provided?

We will have doughnuts for breakfast the morning of the clinic. As well as treats, drinks, and other refreshments throughout the day. Lunch will be provided.

Who can come to the parent clinic?

Any adult involved in the show livestock industry is encouraged to come to the parent clinic. It is for parents, agriculture teachers, extension agents, and 4H leaders.

Will I be expected to be in the ring with my child?

No, you will not be expected to be with your child. We would like for all parents, ag teachers, and extension agents to go to the parent clinic.

What is "has been" showmanship?

This is a showmanship contest for anyone present at the clinic that is over the age of 21 and has not shown in a junior show in the last 6 months. It is $5 at the gate, and is a small fundraiser for the clinic next year. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 showmen.

How long will the clinic last?

The clinic will be an all day event. For a more detailed schedule visit our clinic information tab.

Can I bring my dog with me to the clinic?

No, this is to ensure that no cattle are spooked during the clinic, which could result in injury.


Does my exhibitor need to bring a calf?

Yes, all exhibitors will be required to bring a calf.

What is the cost?

$20 per exhibitor

Will showmanship prizes be awarded?

Yes! Our staff is working dilligently to provide awesome prizes for the kids in each division

What are the scholarship requirements?

  • You must have assisted with the 2021 Southwest Cattle Clinic or plan to assist with the 2022 Southwest Cattle Clinic

  • Currently enrolled in, or accepted into an accredited college or university as a full-time, degree-seeking student

  • Cumulative overall high school or college GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale

  • You must have completed the clinic volunteer application form for the 2022 Southwest Cattle Clinic

  • Demonstrates leadership abilities
